This standard provides the format and establishes the data contents of the Functional Group Totals Transaction Set within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange environment. This transaction set can be used to transmit selected totals and accumulated totals to date for each type of transaction set contained in a functional group. This transaction set is always included with a transmission of a Motor Carrier Freight Details and Invoice Transaction Set (210).
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To specify batch totals of monetary data elements, weights, or quantity
To signify the end of the time period indicated and to reset accumulated totals to zero for the next functional group of transaction sets
To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments).
