This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Rail Advance Interchange Consist Transaction Set (418) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used to transmit advance information on equipment being interchanged to a connection rail carrier, from a consignor or to a consignee.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To transmit identifying numbers, dates and other basic data relating to the transaction set.
To identify the block identification of a specific cut of cars relating to this interchange report.
To identify equipment and the commodity being carried
To provide sufficient waybill information for delivery of shipment
