This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Shipment Status Inquiry (Ocean) Transaction Set (313) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used to provide all the information necessary for an authorized party to an ocean shipment to inquire of the ocean carrier as to the status of a shipment.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To transmit identifying numbers, dates and other basic data relating to the transaction set
To transmit identifying numbers and descriptive information as specified by the reference number qualifier
To identify a party by type of organization, name and code
To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments).
