This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Railroad Reciprocal Switch File Transaction Set (433) for use in an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used to provide electronic updates for the reciprocal switch status (open, closed or conditionally open) of railroad customers.

To identify a party by type of organization, name and code
To specify additional names or those longer than 35 characters in length
To specify the location of the named party

To identify the specific railroad carrier codes associated with the station
To identify the specific station that indicates the switching district for a given railroad terminal or the specific station used to identify a geographical location as a rate base location

To convey the Standard Transportation Commodity Code (STCC) and associated descriptions
