This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Railroad Service Commitment Advice Transaction Set (453) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used by a Rail Interline Service Management shipment sponsor to communicate service commitment details to transportation service providers.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To transmit identifying numbers, dates and other basic data relating to the transaction set
To specify any or all of a date, a time, or a time period
To identify a party by type of organization, name and code
To identify the origin and destination of a shipment
Identify basis for pricing authority for shipments moving on a contract
To identify the commodity to which the application of a rate docket is restricted.
Used to limit the application of restrictions to a subset of standard Association of American Railroads Car Type Codes
Used to limit the application of restrictions to a subset of standard Association of American Railroads Pool Codes
To identify the special handling codes that apply to a shipment

To reference a line number in a transaction set.
