This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Rail Clearance Transaction Set (470) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used to provide the means to request or respond to clearances for dimensional and heavy shipments by Rail.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To indicate the beginning of a transaction set
To transmit identifying information as specified by the Reference Identification Qualifier
To identify the rail origin of the shipment
To identify the rail destination of the shipment
To identify a person or office to whom administrative communications should be directed
To specify special handling instructions in coded or free-form format
To specify carrier and routing sequences and details
To identify the load and equipment type for a high/wide shipment
To specify physical measurements or counts, including dimensions, tolerances, variances, and weights
