This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Automotive Inspection Detail Transaction Set (928) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used by automotive manufacturers, inspection agencies, or carriers to report motor vehicle inspection results to other interested parties.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To transmit identifying numbers, dates, and other basic data relating to the transaction set
To identify origin and destination carriers, equipment carrying shipment, date shipped, seal status, and equipment type
To define motor vehicle identification and logistics
To report the inspection results on automotive vehicles
To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments)
