This X12 Transaction Set contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Trailer Usage Report Transaction Set (227) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This standard can be used to transmit information related to the shipper's, consignee's, or third party's planned usage of a trailer supplied by a motor carrier for trailer inventory reporting purposes only. This transaction set is used to provide the motor carrier with information related to the loading of a trailer, rejection of the trailer, and reported location. It is not to be used to provide a motor carrier with data relative to a load tender or pick up notification and requires no response.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To transmit the identifying SCAC code and effective date and time for the data in the transaction set
To identify a party by type of organization, name, and code
To specify additional names
To specify the location of the named party
To specify the geographic place of the named party
To identify a person or office to whom communications should be directed
To transmit information in a free-form format, if necessary, for comment or special instruction
To identify the equipment
To record seal numbers used and the organization that applied the seals
To specify pertinent dates and times
To provide relevant data regarding equipment usage
To specify instructions in this business relationship or a reference number
To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments)
