This X12 Transaction Set provides the format and establishes the data contents of the Railroad Station Master File Transaction Set (431) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set will be used by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and the rail carriers to apply and disseminate information concerning the railroad stations.
Rail carriers report to the AAR the addition or deletion of, or changes to, the list of stations they serve as updates to the centrally maintained master file.
The AAR in turn provides all updates to the rail carriers and other subscribers to the system.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To identify the type of transaction update and type of station
To specify the geographic place of the named party
To specify condition restrictions or provisions applicable to the rate docket
To identify the specific railroad carrier codes associated with the station
To identify the specific postal address information for each of the various categories of mailing requirements for a station
To identify a party by type of organization, name, and code
To identify the specific station that indicates the switching district for a given railroad terminal or the specific station used to identify a geographical location as a rate base location
To identify the specific railroad operating facilities and characteristics for the station in the transaction
To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments)
