This standard provides the format and establishes the data contents of the shipment delivery discrepancy information transaction set. This transaction set is used to enable a carrier to notify a shipper or consignee of discrepancies between tendered freight and actual delivered freight.
Delivery discrepancy data enables a party to track and control damages, overages, and shortages. This transaction set is not used to acknowledge receipt of goods.
To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number
To transmit identifying numbers and other basic data relating to the transaction set.
To specify pertinent dates and times
To transmit identifying numbers and descriptive information as specified by the reference number qualifier
To transmit information in a free-form format, if necessary, for comment or special instruction.
